On June 2nd from 10:00-11:30am in the Second Harvest Kitchen, volunteers will attend a one-time training taught by professionals from Inland Northwest Health Services. This training provides volunteers with skills for conducting pre-diabetes screenings with community members and clients served by food pantries in Spokane County.

After the training session, volunteer working in teams will use skills learned to screen clients for pre-diabetes risk factors. Distribution times vary, with most taking place during daytime hours Monday-Saturday. Eligible clients will be referred to a 16-week health promotion course, focused on setting goals and making lasting changes to sustain a healthy lifestyle.

Volunteers will gather at 9:45am in the Volunteer Center area near the main entrance of Second Harvest at 1234 East Front Ave in Spokane. From there, we will walk back as a group into the Kitchen space in the southwest corner of the warehouse.

For more information, contact Allie Moore, Kitchen Volunteer Coordinator at americorps@secondharvestkitchen.org or 509 252 6271.

Registration is now closed for this event.
