This month our Community Impact team would like to highlight a brand new partnership we just established with Spokane’s Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center. We kicked off this partnership by helping the VAMC celebrate National Salute to Veteran's Patient Week. The Mobile Food Bank truck set up in Medical Center’s parking lot to distribute healthy and nutritious foods to the veterans and the surrounding community for the entire week of Feb. 13th - 17th from 1:00pm-3:00pm daily. We distributed 21,334 pounds of food to 381 households throughout that week.
After the kick off of this partnership, each month a pop up pantry will be hosted to distribute 1500-2000 pounds of food and will feature nutrition education if the form of food tasting,
recipes, and joint cooking classes facilitated by the VA’s Nutrition Services and Second Harvest The Kitchen staff. This is an exciting partnership between Second Harvest and our veterans and local community.
