Resource: Complete Proteins 101

April 13, 2016

Learning nutrition terms can be difficult. Often times, especially when it comes to nutrition, there are many terms that seem like they are "common knowledge," making it intimidating to ask questions about those topics. The terms "complete protein" and "complementary protein" are two terms that are thrown around often without much explanation.

Check out this blog post from the food blog Have Fruit Will Travel. This post does a great job with breaking down these two terms, as well as other terms associated with proteins that may also be confusing, such as: amino acids & their names, legumes, whole grains, as well as essential & non-essential. This post can be used to understand these terms a bit better, as well as a resource for educators to learn how to break down these terms for improved client understanding.
