My Healthy Life Spokane

December 4, 2015

Check out the new campaign from Spokane Regional Health District: My Healthy Life Spokane. They are helping folks make changes in their life one small step at a time. Second Harvest is proud to support these efforts by distributing large volumes of free healthy fruits and vegetables every day through our partner food banks across the Inland Northwest.

According to myhealthylifespokane.org:

"The My Healthy Life campaign is designed to support those in Spokane who are eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, formerly known as food stamps, in reaching their individual goals to get healthier. We know the barriers you face when it comes to eating more fruits and veggies, getting more physical activity and drinking lower-fat milk and we have the simple tips and tricks you need to overcome those obstacles."

We especially love the testimony of Larry, who is living with diabetes as he reccomends blending fresh fruits and vegetables he receives from the food bank. Nearly half of the 26 million pounds of food resourced and distributed by Second Harvest are fresh fruits and vegetables. We're excited to be a part of the solution by ensuring regular access to healthy foods so everyone can lead healthy, active lifestyles.

Also, make sure to check out our upcoming Classes and Events page to view cooking classes that can help you acheive those goals.
