One Sarasota, FL based food bank has increased its nutrition education and community outreach efforts with its "Sprout Truck". This truck drives along a route around the community to distribute fresh produce to those in need.
In the last year, a corporate hotel sponsor, the Hyatt Regency Sarasota, also began providing culinary staff to go along with the truck to help food bank clients understand how to use their produce. These efforts have been a push to increase the amount of exposure food bank clients have to multiple preparation techniques, and promoting the consumption of produce as a daily habit.
