Many of us in Spokane county may have woken up this morning surprised to see about five inches of snow on the ground. Then, if you're anything like me, you checked the forecast to see snow through most of the next week. Winter is officially here.

How can we make the best of winter? Here in The Kitchen at Second Harvest, we promote fitness as part of a healthy lifestyle. However, wintertime may build some extra barriers to exercise, safety, or health. The Mayo Clinic offers some great winter fitness tips for staying warm and healthy during winter workouts, with some information about warning signs for cold weather-related health problems and other issues to watch out for while exercising or playing in the cold temperatures.
